Social Work Happens Here

March 2026

For the third year running, Kindred has joined forces with Social Work England to create an earned-first campaign to boost recognition of social workers during Social Work Week.

To help the public understand the often-unseen role of social workers – only 13% of people are aware that they support adults, as well as children and families – we partnered with Helen Cammock, a Turner Prize-winning artist and former social worker, to unveil ‘Social Work Happens Here’ plaques depicting a powerful and thought-provoking poem Helen wrote after speaking with practitioners.

The plaques were placed on locations where people might not expect social workers to work including London Ambulance Service in London, Arthur Rank Hospice in Cambridgeshire and Momentum Children’s Charity in Surrey. Coverage so far has included BBC Radio 4 Women’s Hour and regional BBC stations.
