Tackling online risk in the age of age verification

January 2026

Our campaign for the Lucy Faithfull Foundation drove national attention to the risks of online child sexual abuse, placing prevention firmly at the centre of a meaningful societal debate about online safety. Our research revealed that nearly half of UK porn users are accessing unregulated sites to avoid age verification – increasing the risk of exposure to harmful and illegal content, including child sexual abuse material.

We combined this data with lived experience and expert insight from the Foundation. The story achieved 59 pieces of coverage across national print, broadcast and online media including the Mirror, Metro, BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme, BBC Radio 5 Live, LBC and Sky News.

Crucially, the campaign reframed prevention of child sexual abuse as a public health issue – encouraging people to seek confidential support before harm occurs.
